It is actively engaged in the research, development, production, and distribution of a wide array of products, including traditional Chinese patent medicines, Western pharmaceuticals, chemical raw materials, natural and biological medications, and chemical raw material intermediates. Its operations span both the People's Republic of China and international markets. The company structures its extensive operations into four primary segments: Great Southern TCM, Great Commerce, Great Health, and a miscellaneous 'Others' category. Beyond its core pharmaceutical manufacturing, GBPHCL's activities extend to the wholesale, retail, import, and export of both Western and traditional Chinese medicines, as well as medical apparatus and instruments. Furthermore, its diverse product portfolio encompasses the research, development, production, and sale of consumer health items such as beverages, various food products (including pre-packaged items and dairy), and a broad range of pharmaceutical formulations like tablets, capsules, lozenges, injections, and even traditional specialties like tortoise herb jelly. The group also strategically invests in the broader health industry, focusing on areas like medical care, health management, health preservation, and elderly care. Complementing these activities, it offers commercial and advertising services. As of December 31, 2021, GBPHCL maintained a substantial retail presence, operating 154 chain pharmacy outlets. This network comprised 22 Cai Zhi Lin pharmacies, 36 Jian Min pharmacies, 51 GPC Prescription Pharmacy locations, and 23 Hainan Guangyao Chenfei Pharmaceutical Chain Co., Ltd. outlets, alongside an additional 22 general retail stores. Tracing its origins back to its incorporation in 1997, the company was initially known as Guangzhou Pharmaceutical Company Limited. It adopted its current name, Guangzhou Baiyunshan Pharmaceutical Holdings Company Limited, in August 2013. The company is headquartered in Guangzhou, China.
