About Mersen S.A.
Mersen S.A., an enterprise founded in Courbevoie, France, in 1889, is a global manufacturer and distributor of advanced materials and specialized electrical power products. Its operations span France, North America, Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, and other international markets, structured around two primary segments: Advanced Materials and Electrical Power. The Electrical Power segment provides a comprehensive suite of solutions, featuring electrical protection and control devices such as various low, medium, and high-voltage fuses (including general-purpose, high-speed, and DC protection for electric vehicles and batteries), power transfer systems for railway applications, surge and lightning protection, and power monitoring technologies. This division also supplies power management components like cooling solutions, bus bars, and aluminum electrolytic and film capacitors. Within its Advanced Materials segment, Mersen produces a wide array of anticorrosion equipment, encompassing heat exchangers, columns, reactors, pressure vessels, and various PTFE/PFA components (bellows, pipes, fittings), alongside graphite bursting discs and other corrosion-resistant materials, supported by after-sales and maintenance services. This segment also specializes in graphite products, including isostatic, extruded, and flexible graphite, carbon insulation, carbon/carbon composites, and silicon carbide. Furthermore, Mersen manufactures diverse carbon-based components crucial for power and signal transmission, such as carbon brushes, brush-holders, rotary joints, current collectors, and complete slip and electrical ring assemblies, in addition to wheel flange lubrication and carbon dust collection systems. Mersen's extensive product portfolio serves a broad spectrum of industries, including energy, electronics, transportation, corrosive chemicals, process industries, and specialized sectors such as building infrastructure, elevators, ski lifts, defense, HVAC, and outdoor LED lighting. The company previously operated as Groupe Carbone Lorraine SA before rebranding to Mersen SA in 2010.
