National Presto Industries, Inc. (NPK), a company established in 1905 and headquartered in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, primarily serves the North American market through its diverse operations. The company is structured into three main divisions: Housewares/Small Appliances, Defense, and Safety. The Housewares/Small Appliance segment is dedicated to the design, marketing, and distribution of a wide array of kitchenware and small electric devices. These products, often sold under the "Presto Control Master" brand, include essentials like pressure cookers, food canners, various temperature-controlled cooking surfaces (such as skillets, griddles, woks, and multi-cookers), slow cookers, deep and air fryers, waffle makers, and pizza ovens. Their extensive catalog also features slicer/shredders, electric heaters, several types of corn poppers (hot air, oil, microwave), dehydrators, rice cookers, specialized bacon and egg cookers, coffeemakers, electric tea kettles, knife sharpeners, and other assorted kitchen tools and timers. Sales for this division are conducted directly with retailers and through a network of independent distributors. NPK's Defense division manufactures and supplies specialized products for military applications. This includes 40mm ammunition, precision mechanical and electro-mechanical components, and cases for medium-caliber cartridges. Furthermore, the segment produces a range of energetic materials such as detonators, booster pellets, release cartridges, and lead azide. Its primary customers are the United States Department of Defense (DOD) and leading DOD prime contractors. Lastly, the Safety segment focuses on pioneering technology to enhance storage safety. Utilizing patented innovations in machine learning, digital sensors, and cloud-based systems, this division continuously monitors freezers and refrigerators. Its purpose is to detect potential issues and alert users to safety concerns regarding stored pharmaceuticals and food items.
