About Oxford Nanopore Technologies plc
Oxford Nanopore Technologies plc, founded in 2005 and originally known as Oxford NanoLabs Limited before its name change in May 2008, is a United Kingdom-based enterprise that specializes in developing and commercializing an innovative system for analyzing diverse molecular structures through nanopore-based sensing. Its product range features a variety of devices, including the portable MinION for sequencing deoxyribonucleic acid and ribonucleic acid, and the MinION Mk1C, which integrates basecalling, data analysis, touchscreen controls, and wireless connectivity. For benchtop operations, the company offers the GridION, capable of running and analyzing up to five MinION or Flongle flow cells, as well as the GridION Mk1 nanopore sequencer. High-yield sequencing is made accessible with the PromethION 2 Solo and PromethION 2, while the PromethION 24 and PromethION 48 provide benchtop nanopore sequencers for multiple users to achieve multi-sample and multi-experiment results. Further complementing these devices are Flongle, an adapter for MinION or GridION units, and VolTRAX, a USB-powered tool designed to automate laboratory processes preceding nanopore sequencing. The company also provides a suite of software solutions: MinKNOW facilitates data acquisition, real-time analysis and feedback, local basecalling, and data streaming; specialized Basecalling tools pinpoint the identity and sequence of bases on DNA/RNA molecules; EPI2ME is a cloud-based platform for comprehensive, real-time analysis of nanopore data; and EPI2ME Labs offers bioinformatics support to help users refine their skills and confidence in analyzing their sequencing data. Additionally, Oxford Nanopore Technologies is actively developing new products such as MinION Mk1D, Ubi, Plongle, and SmidgION. All of its products are available for purchase online.
