About Südzucker AG
Südzucker AG, established in Mannheim, Germany, in 1837, is an international enterprise specializing in the production and distribution of sugar-related products. Operating as a subsidiary of Süddeutsche Zuckerrübenverwertungs-Genossenschaft eG, the company structures its operations across five distinct segments, serving a wide array of markets. The Sugar segment provides diverse sugar products, specialty sugars, glucose syrup, and animal feed to the food industry, retailers, and agricultural sectors, also offering valuable by-products from sugar processing. Its Special Products division manufactures functional food ingredients, including dietary fibers, sugar substitutes, and modified starches/proteins, for applications in the food, animal feed, non-food, and pharmaceutical industries. This segment further extends its offerings to prepared convenience foods, such as frozen pizzas and pasta, along with sauces and dressings, and supplies portion-controlled food and non-food items to hospitality businesses like hotels, caterers, and restaurants. The CropEnergies segment is dedicated to producing fuel-grade ethanol, rectified spirits, protein-rich food and animal feed, and liquid CO2. Its clientele includes oil companies, industrial and pharmaceutical firms, food and animal feed manufacturers, and producers in the beverage and cosmetics sectors. Within the Starch segment, Südzucker offers various starches, saccharification products, and ethanol, complemented by by-products like animal feed and fertilizers. These are utilized across industries such as food, paper, textiles, industrial chemicals, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and petroleum. Lastly, the Fruit segment is a key supplier of fruit preparations for the dairy, ice cream, baked goods, and food service industries. It also produces fruit juice concentrates, pure juices, fruit wines, natural aromas, and beverage bases for the broader beverage sector. Beyond its core processing activities, Südzucker AG also engages in agricultural endeavors, cultivating crops like wheat, sugar beet, corn, and rapeseed.
