About York Timber Holdings Limited
York Timber Holdings Limited functions as an investment holding company with extensive operations across various sectors, including forestry, timber processing (sawmilling and plywood production), wholesale distribution, and hospitality. The company's business activities are structured into four key segments: Processing Plants, Forestry and Fleet, Wholesale, and Agricultural. The Processing Plants division manages four sawmills, which are responsible for producing and selling a wide array of structural and industrial sawn timber goods, in addition to operating a plywood plant that manufactures plywood timber products. The Forestry and Fleet segment owns and operates plantations in Mpumalanga Province, cultivating pine and eucalyptus trees, and provides fleet solutions with heavy motor vehicles specifically for transporting logs. This segment supplies its products to both the company's processing divisions and external customers. The Wholesale segment oversees five distribution centers situated in Germiston, Polokwane, Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth, Durban, and Cape Town, where it sells timber-related products sourced from its own sawmills, plywood plants, and external suppliers. Lastly, the Agricultural segment includes land dedicated to orchards for avocados, citrus, and macadamia nuts, along with a fruit packaging facility and plants for producing lumber and pallets. Incorporated in 1916, the company was formerly known as The York Timber Organisation Limited before changing its name to York Timber Holdings Limited in May 2009. Its headquarters are located in Sabie, South Africa.
